Reed's Remember When ...

This Blog is dedicated to remembering things the way they used to be and tying them to today. Not everything in the 'good old days' were good, but a lot of things still have merit. For instance, 'Remember When a half-gallon of ice cream was actually 2 quarts vice 1.75 quarts today? What's up with that?'

Name: Reed
Location: Midwest, United States

Trying to make sense of 'today' and ensure my children grow up with the beliefs that were instilled in me. Give them the best start in life. Stress do the 'right thing, the first time, every time.'

Reed's Remember TV Commercials

Remember all those TV commercials that we can recall in a flash? TV, whether we like it or not, has impacted all of our lives. We watch the news on it, catch the weather and tuned in to see what happened to JR. In between all of this were those little annoying segments that delayed the conclusion to our favorite shows.

Or, were they annoying segments? Some of them were (and still are), like the new Orbit Gum commercials. Yet, some bring a smile to our face and we can finish the lines or jingles. Don't think so? Well, let's see. Try some of these on for size:

- "Plop, plop, fizz, fizz ...... " (What product was this)
- "I'd like to teach the world to sing in ... " (Did you drink this product, I still do)
- "You got chocolate in my ... and you got .... in my chocolate!" (Mmm, I like these too)
- "How do you spell relief ..."

Or:

- Who tossed a little boy his jersey after getting his Coke?
- "Where's the beef!!" (Grandma was never looked at the same again)
- If you squeezed the Charmin who always caught you?
- The little girl walks downstairs on Christmas morning and finds her big brother home from college. They wake mom and dad with up _______? (Still on, saw it this past weekend)

For those of you who are older than me:

- "A little dab will do ya"

We laugh at some, joke at some and turn the channel on others. These little jingles and slogans have crept into our everyday life. If you don't think so, I bet you said "Whaatzzuuuuup!?" to someone!
